David Sutton grew up in the Swiss community of Helvetia. He is a graduate of Davis & Elkins College and WVU, and a past archivist with the Balch Institute for Ethnic Studies in Philadelphia. In 1990 he wrote a history of Helvetia, reprinted in 2010 by WVU Press. The new volume is entitled Helvetia — The History of a Swiss Village in the Mountains of West Virginia.
