Edwin D. Michael, born in Marion County, earned a B.S. from Marietta College and an M.S. and Ph.D. from Texas A&M. He taught at WVU for more than 25 years and has published more than 100 articles on wildlife. He continues to research the wildlife and natural history of West Virginia, and has published two historical fiction novels, A Valley Called Canaan and Shadow of the Alleghenies.
